A new day has dawned? We shall see. Seattle managed to be wonderfully metaphoric, storming like hell before the election then bursting forth with sunshine today. It’s very funny really, and oh so Pacific Northwest (said while wearing my original Birkenstocks and drinking fair trade coffee).
But something is not resonating for me. As a serious left (far far left) leaning, steph miller-loving, Air America devotee I should have gotten up this morning with my let-me–shake-the-booty–in-your-face (you right wing demagogue pigs) attitude. I didn’t. It’s good without question that the country spoke yesterday with some kind of rational voice, but my faith in our current system is frail beyond normal skepticism. I suspect it will make no difference in the long run.
It is hard not to be disillusioned. On Sunday my dad predicted that the price of petrol would go up today – I chided him for being cynical. Hmm, gas was 7 cents higher a gallon today and I just wonder…
